Job Title: Facilities Assistant
Reports to: Facilities and Technology Manager
Status: Part-time/Hourly
Average Hours Per Week: 22 – 28 hours weekly
Hourly Rate: $16.50 per hour
Job Summary:
The Part-Time Facilities Assistant provides day-to-day cleaning, event set-up and break-down, audio-visual support, cleaning supply management, grounds and light maintenance encompassing all buildings as well as exterior areas of The Pride Center at Equality Park campus.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine commercial cleaning of 30,000 SF of offices, meeting spaces, kitchens, community rooms, auditorium, restrooms, and floors across two main two story buildings
- Provide set-up and break-down services for Center events, private rentals, and group meetings including folding tables and chairs, AV equipment, and other furniture/fixtures
- Perform additional cleaning and organizing of Equality Park storage areas, garages, warehouse, and grounds on occasion
- Troubleshoot and assist with minor maintenance/repairs of Equality Park equipment, furniture, fixtures, and facilities as needed
- Assist the Customer Service Manager and the Facilities & Technology Manager to ensure the provision of set-up and cleaning services for all internal and external events and rentals, including Equality Park Business Partners/Tenants on campus
- Perform grounds maintenance by picking up trash, emptying trash receptacles, pulling weeds, washing windows, and sweeping/cleaning exterior Plaza and common areas as needed
- Assist the Facilities & Technology Manager in providing access and monitoring the work of contractors hired by The Center for specific projects and tasks
- Effectively communicate to the Facilities & Technology Manager any needs related to adequate inventory, ordering, and use of maintenance and repair supplies
- Provide regular, healthy communication to staff, tenants, and renters about the status of repairs and facility needs that impact their program and services
- Attend regular campus “walk-throughs” with the Facilities & Technology Manager to ensure adequate cleaning and upkeep of all facilities is being provided, and identify areas that need work
- Oversee facilities operations in the absence of the Facilities & Technology Manager
- Able to work at a minimum: the equivalent of two (2) full weekends per month in addition to weekday day and/or evening shifts; some holidays may be required
- Be able to work and perform special duties as assigned for major Pride Center events, such as Stonewall Pride, Rainbow 5K Race, and Wicked Manors
Professional Experience/Skills:
The ideal candidate will have the following experience and qualifications:
- Proven cleaning skills in a commercial setting
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work by themselves and accomplish all required tasks by the end of their shift
- Ability to work in a hands-on environment with limited resources. Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting
- Ability to operate mechanical cleaning equipment, including automatic floor cleaner, vacuum, blower, pressure washer, and power tools
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to walk stairs and climb a ladder
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time; ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and lift or move equipment
- Computer skills using Microsoft software applications (e.g., Office Excel, and Outlook) and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)
- Basic knowledge of audio-visual equipment in a conference room setting
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, access control, and security systems
- Energetic and willing to work flexible shifts, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- High School diploma or equivalent GED
- Good communicator, comfortable and credible with people at all levels, and able to create and sustain lasting customer relationships
